Amman, Rabat reiterate unified stance on Palestine

AMMAN, Friday, June 21, 2019 (WAFA) — The Palestinian cause will remain the utmost priority of Jordan until Palestinians realize their right to an independent state of their own with East Jerusalem as its capital, acting Jordanian Lower House speaker Nassar Qaisi said on Wednesday.

Qaisi was speaking during a meeting with Moroccan-Jordanian Parliamentary Brotherhood Committee President Khadija Zayyani that covered bilateral and regional issues.

He stressed that Jerusalem is the cause of all Arabs saying that the Kingdom ‘utterly refuses‘ any plan or deal regarding the Holy City, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The MP also expressed appreciation for the Moroccan positions that support the Kingdom‘s Hashemite Custodianship over Islamic and Christian sites in the Holy City, noting that Rabat has become a prominent regional player.

Meanwhile, Zayyani hailed Amman‘s pivotal stance towards regional issues, mainly the Palestinian cause, highlighting the role of the Jordanian leadership in safeguarding the Holy City.

Also on Wednesday, during a meeting with the Moroccan delegates, head of the Jordanian Lower House Foreign Affairs Committee MP Nidal Taani said that the regional instability and political crises in some countries of the Middle East have reflected negatively on the Palestinian cause.

Taani said that Jordan‘s biggest concerns are Israel‘s continued violation of Jerusalem‘s holy sites and its provocations against the Palestinian people.

Zayyani stressed Rabat‘s unaltered stance towards Palestine and the Hashemite Custodianship, rejecting all types of compromise for ‘these unchangeable positions‘.
