RAMALLAH, Wednesday, June 5, 2019 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh Tuesday evening slammed Israel’s plan to build 805 new settler units in occupied East Jerusalem.
Shtayyeh stated that Israel’s plan to advance the construction of 805 units in occupied East Jerusalem coupled with ongoing assaults against Palestinian Muslim worshipers inside Al-Aqsa Mosque compound reflects Israel’s colonialist mindset and its attempt to consolidate the fait accompli situation and destroy what chance remains for the peace process.
He urged the international community to put pressure on Israel to roll back its colonialist measures contradicting the international consensus, laws and resolutions that consider East Jerusalem as part of the Palestinian territories occupied since June 1967.
He noted that it is not sufficient for the international community to issue statements condemning Israeli violations and actions, but it needs to take concrete action.
He called on all states around the world to salvage the two-state solution being destroyed by Israeli through the recognition of the State of Palestine on the basis of 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, and warned of Israel’s plans to annex parts of the west Bank.
