RAMALLAH, Friday, April 05, 2019 (WAFA) – Presidential spokesman Nabil Abu Rudainah condemned on Friday a recent statement by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in which he said he would not allow President Mahmoud Abbas to return to the Gaza Strip.
“[Netanyahu’s] statement is unacceptable and reflects the Israeli strategy to perpetuate the [intra-Palestinian] division. It is a prelude to the Gaza microstate in which Jerusalem and its holy sites are to be renounced”, Abu Rudainah said in a press statement.
“This statement reveals the strategy pursued by the Israeli government which is supported by the US administration, aimed at dividing Palestine and then the Arab world,” he added.
The presidential spokesman blamed the US administration as responsible for the tensions in Palestine and the region by supporting this colonial Israeli policy.
He continued, “The permanent position of the President is to establish a just and comprehensive peace based on the resolutions of international legitimacy. Without the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state on all Palestinian soil, security and stability will not be achieved.”
“Jerusalem is not for sale or purchase, and all settlements are illegal”.
