Funeral processions of two slain Palestinians focus of dailies

 

RAMALLAH, Sunday, December 30, 2018 (WAFA) – The funeral processions of two Palestinians killed by Israeli forces in Gaza and Salfit made headlines of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies on Sunday.

The dailies said Elyas Saleh Yasin, 22, whose body was handed over to his family after being withheld for more than two months, was laid to rest on Saturday in his hometown village of Bidia, near the town of Salfit in the West Bank.

They also said that hundreds of Palestinians took part in the funeral procession of Karam Fayyad, 26, in his hometown of Khan Younis in the Gaza Strip. Fayyad was shot dead by Israeli snipers while he was participating in the Great March of Return protests at Gaza border on Friday.

Al-Quds and al-Ayyam said Israeli warplanes bombed a location belonging to Palestinian resistance groups to the east of Deir el-Balah city in the Gaza Strip.

Al-Ayyam said The Netherlands condemned Israeli settlements and confirmed that they undermine the two-state solution and the chances of lasting peace.

Al-Quds said the presidency, the government and Palestinian factions condemned the terrorist attack on a bus in Egypt/

Al-Ayyam said Israeli occupation forces arrested 6,489 Palestinian citizens, including 1,063 children, in 2018.

Al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida quoted Mohammad Shtayyeh, member of the Fatah Central Committee, as saying, “If Hamas insists on rejecting the elections, we will go to another formula to save state institutions.”
