Trade deficit down in September, says statistics bureau

 

RAMALLAH, Thursday, November 22, 2018 (WAFA) - Trade deficit in Palestine decreased by 6% in September compared to August, while it increased by 10% compared to September 2017 and reached $379.2 million, the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) said in a report published on Thursday on the preliminary results of the Palestinian registered external trade in goods in September.

Exports decreased in September by 8% compared to August, while it increased by 11% compared to September 2017 and reached $81.9 million, said the PCBS.

Exports to Israel decreased in September by 12% compared to August and it represented 88% of total exports in September.

On the other hand, exports to other countries increased by 43% during the same period and reached $9.6 million.

Imports decreased in September by 7% compared to August, while it increased by 10% compared to September 2017 and reached $461.1 million, it said.

Imports from Israel slightly decreased by 0.3% in September compared to August and it represented 63% of total imports in September.

At the same time, imports from other countries decreased by 15% compared to August.
