RAMALLAH, Tuesday, November 20, 2018 (WAFA) – Dozens of Palestinians were injured in the West Bank and Gaza Strip on Monday in an Israeli military crackdown on peaceful protests, the Palestinian Arabic dailies said on their front page on Tuesday.
According to al-Quds and al-Ayyam, 33 Palestinians were injured, 25 of them in the Gaza when Israeli soldiers opened fire at the night coastal protests in the north of the Strip. The rest were in the West Bank village of Urif, where Israeli settlers and soldiers attacked villagers.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida reported on this lower on the page, but highlighted as it main front page story President Mahmoud Abbas participating in a celebration marking the birth of Prophet Mohammad, which coincides on Tuesday.
It also highlighted Abbas praising Saudi support for the Palestinian cause after Saudi King Salman said the Palestinian cause remains his country’s top cause.
The three papers also highlighted UNRWA chief saying that the UN Palestine refugee agency was able to cut its deficit for this year from $446 million to only $21 million.
They also highlighted threats by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to go ahead with the demolition of Khan al-Ahmar village located east of Jerusalem. They quoted Palestinians saying they will defend the village against any attempts to destroy it.
Al-Ayyam said Israel is financing the building of a car racing track in the occupied territories on Palestinian land seized by Israel.
Al-Quds said, quoting a senior Jordanian official, that a solution has been found for the pilgrimage to Mecca of Palestinians from inside Israel after Saudi Arabia has decided not to allow them to enter its territory on temporary travel documents issued by Jordan.
It said Egypt has resumed its efforts to reconcile the Palestinian factions.
It also said Israeli bulldozers have uprooted 500 palm trees east of Jericho, in the Jordan Valley.
The paper also said the United Nations gave Israel two months to explain its Nation-State law.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said the General Supervisor of the Official Media Ahmad Assaf has signed an agreement on safety of journalists with the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate and the International Federation of Journalists.
