RAMALLAH, July 15, 2018 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies focused in their Sunday issue on the latest Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip that left two Palestinian children killed and 25 others injured.
The dailies said Israeli warplanes fired three missiles targeting an empty building in Gaza city, killing Palestinian minors Ameer al-Nemreh, 15, and Lo’ay Kuhail, 16, and injuring many others.
Al-Ayyam said the government called for an immediate international intervention to stop the Israeli aggression on Gaza.
On a different subject, the dailies highlighted President Mahmoud Abbas’s meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Moscow.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida and al-Ayyam quoted President Abbas as saying: “there is a real crisis in the region, and the relations with the United States are completely suspended.”
Al-Quds and al-Ayyam said the President discussed with Putin the latest developments in Palestine and Israel’s plan to demolish Khan al-Ahmar community near Jerusalem.
Al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida said three slain Palestinians whose bodies were handed over to the Palestinian side after being withheld by Israel for one to three months were laid to rest on Saturday.
Al-Ayyam said several Palestinians were injured by Israeli forces during confrontations in the southern West Bank town of Beit Ummar.
Al-Quds said Israeli police and intelligence on Saturday banned the holding of an academic conference in Jerusalem and briefly detained the participants.
Al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida said the European Union reaffirmed its position towards the occupied Palestinian territories and said it does recognize Israel’s sovereignty over the territories occupied in 1967.
