Murder rates drop by 47 percent in first half of 2018, says police

 

RAMALLAH, July 7, 2018 (WAFA) – Analytical results carried out by the Palestinian police indicated that murder rates in Palestine have dropped by 47 percent during the first half of 2018 compared to the same period in 2017.

In a press statement, police spokesman Col. Loay Erzekat said eight murder cases occurred during the said period. Police were able to solve seven of the eight cases. the statement indicated that during the same period in 2017, the police recorded 15 murder cases, some of which were solved.

Regarding suicide rates, Erzekat confirmed that suicide attempts that led to death fell by eight percent during the first half of 2018 compared to the same period in 2017. He added that 12 cases of suicide occurred in the first six months of the year 2018, while 13 others occurred during the same period last year.
