RAMALLAH, July 6, 2018 (WAFA) – The Israeli military crackdown on Palestinians defending the village of al-Khan al-Ahmar from being razed to the ground dominated the front page headlines in Palestinian dailies on Friday.

Al-Quds reported that Israeli military continued to surround the Palestinian Bedouin community al-Khan al-Ahmar, while al-Hayat al-Jadida said Israeli occupation authorities continued to practice the policy of ethnic cleansing of the community.

The dailies added that Israeli military prevented European diplomats from reaching the community.

Al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida added in this regard that Israeli troops cracked down on activists on a vigil at Khan al-Ahmar and journalists, detaining three activists and seizing four vehicles, including one that belong to the Palestinian Authority’s official news agency.

The dailies added that Israel’s top court issued an interim junction ordering a pause on the demolition of the Palestinian Bedouin village of Khan al-Ahmar.

Furthermore, Fatah movement was reported in al-Hayat al-Jadida calling for en masse rallies to Khan al-Ahmar.

The European Union (EU) was reported in al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida stating: “These demolitions together with plans for new settlement construction for Israelis in the same area, exacerbate threats to the viability of the two-state solution.”

Additionally, the dailies reported that Israeli occupation authorities demolished agricultural and commercial structures in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Hizma.

They added that Israeli forces tore down a tent used as a shelter and assaulted dwellers in the Palestinian herding community of Susiya in the southern Hebron hills.

They also reported that Israeli Jewish settlers chopped down 350 grapevines in al-Khader town, south of Bethlehem.

According to al-Ayyam, Israeli military conducted multiple overnight raids across the West Bank, detaining a total of 28 Palestinians.

It added that Israeli troops dismantled and seized water pipes that have been installed to supply water to Bardalla village in the northern Jordan Valley.

Highlighting the situation in the besieged Gaza Strip, the dailies reported that an Israeli drone fired a missile at a motorcycle, east of Deir al-Balah, ]without causing any injuries[.

Al-Quds added that Israeli military opened fire on farmers east of Khan Younes city, causing no injuries, while al-Ayyam said that a group of Palestinians cutting through the border fence between Israel and Gaza survived gunfire shot by Israeli snipers, east of Gaza city.

It republished a Haaretz report indicating that Mateh Binyamin Regional Council, an Israeli local authority that brings together 42 Israeli settlements in the West Bank, allocated tens of millions of shekels in 2013-2015 to Amana settler organization that establishes settlement outposts in the West Bank.

Amana is the development arm of the Gush Emunim settlement movement, which has been integral to the Israeli colonization of many parts of the West Bank.

It also reported that Washington has suspended financial assistance to the Palestinian Authority, except for assistance allocated to the Palestinian security forces.

It also reported well-informed Palestinian sources denying any progress has been made in  reaching a prisoners swap deal between Hamas and Israel.

Moreover, al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida reported Secretary-General of Fatah Central Committee Jibril Rajoub stating that the committee would convene on Sunday under the chairmanship of President Mahmoud Abbas.

Minister of Finance Shukri Bishara was reported in al-Ayyam pledging to continue to pay the allocations of families of Palestinian prisoners and those killed or injured by Israeli forces.

According to al-Hayat al-Jadida, Palestinians gathered in refugee camps in northern Lebanon in support of Abbas and in protest of the so-called “Deal of the Century”.

It reported member of the Palestine Liberation Organization’s (PLO) Executive Committee Azzam al-Ahmad calling on Arab countries to meet the financial obligations they have pledged to Al-Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem Funds.

Highlighting his speech at the 2018 Ramallah Convention, al-Hayat al-Jadida reported Premier Rami Hamdallah affirming the Palestinian people’s attachment to its inalienable political, historic and legal rights.

He was also reported pledging that these rights would not be substituted for assistance to relive the humanitarian and financial crisis.
