RAMALLAH, June 7, 2018 (WAFA) – Fights between residents in the West Bank increased by 23% during the first 20 days of the holy fast month of Ramadan compared to last year’s data for the same period, police said on Thursday.
Police spokesman Loai Irzeikat said 271 fights were recorded this Ramadan compared to 209 last year and 189 assaults against individuals compared to 167 last year that left 324 injuries this Ramadan compared to 273 last year. No one was killed.
He said most of the fights were for simple reasons that could have been avoided and many were a result of differences between children or over parking. Sometimes fights between young men develop into larger fights between families that could lead to death, injury and damage to property.
