GENEVA, May 13, 2025 (WAFA) — The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) confirmed that the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip has reached "catastrophic levels," calling for an urgent resumption of the ceasefire, protection for civilians, and guaranteed delivery of humanitarian aid.
"There is an urgent need for political will to save lives and resume the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip," said ICRC President Mirjana Spoljaric in a statement issued last night.
"It is essential to spare civilians the ravages of hostilities and to ensure the safe and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid," she added.
Spoljaric emphasized that "the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza has reached catastrophic levels," emphasizing that "the resumption of the ceasefire is a necessity that cannot be delayed."
The ICRC expressed its full commitment to carrying out protection and assistance activities in the Gaza Strip, as part of its humanitarian mandate, including facilitating the release of detainees, providing medical assistance, and other essential humanitarian support.
