RAMALLAH, June 2, 2018 (WAFA) - Presidential spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh said on Saturday that the US veto at the United Nations Security Council and anti-Palestinian rhetoric by American officials will not dismay Palestinian resolve to hold on to their national rights.
"The rising American hostility toward Palestinian rights, the last of which was the US veto at the Security Council and unacceptable statements by its officials, indicate that the existing possibilities are not an option but rather a test of the ability of the unified Arab stand in facing the current and future challenges of this difficult stage," he said.
"US policy supporting the (Israeli) occupation and it settlements, which are in violation of international resolutions, will only increase the determination of the Palestinian people and their leadership to adhere to the national constants and will also end any glimmer of hope to get out of the impasse reached in the peace process as result of the this policy, which is isolated from the rest of the community," said Abu Rudeineh.
He said that no settlement will be acceptable or achievable without the consent of the Palestinian leadership and its institutions. "Any attempt to go around the national position and under any humanitarian slogans or any ideas to break down and end the cause will remain ink on paper in light of the historic steadfastness," he said.
The spokesman said that "the only way to achieve a just and lasting peace is through adherence to all Arab and international resolutions, including decisions made at Arab summits and by the Palestinian leadership and its National Council, in order to achieve security and stability and establish the independent state of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital."
Abu Rudeineh concluded: “Crossing the red line, regardless of the party, will keep the whole region in a constant fight against a fire that may not be contained or its outcome predicted.”
