Israeli forces detain 16 Palestinians from West Bank

RAMALLAH, May 31, 2018 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Thursday conducted multiple predawn raids across the West Bank and detained a total of 16 Palestinians, said the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS).

Israeli forces raided several neighborhoods across the southern West Bank city of Hebron, where they violently ransacked many homes, interrogated their owners and detained eight Palestinians.

Three of the detainees were identified as Osama Shahin, director of the Palestinian Prisoners Center, Hisham Sharabati, a political analyst, and Mosab Qfeisha, a journalist.

In Ramallah district, Israeli forces conducted raids into Beitin and Um Safa villages, east and north of Ramallah, detaining two Palestinians after breaking into and ransacking their homes.

In the northern West Bank, forces detained two Palestinians, stormed several homes and interrogated their owners in Kafr Dan village, west of Jenin city, triggering confrontations.

Israeli troops fired tear gas canisters at youths who protested the raid, causing a number of protestors to suffer from tear gas inhalation.

Three others were detained during a similar raid into Yaabad town, west of Jenin.

PPS said that since the first of May, Israeli forces have detained 33 Palestinians, including five patients, from Jenin district.

This came as dozens of Israeli soldiers raided Dheisheh refugee camp, south of Bethlehem, where they injured four Palestinians and detained one.
