RAMALLAH, May 31, 2018 (WAFA) – Around 500 Palestinians held in administrative detention in Israeli jails are going to embark next month on an open-ended hunger strike to demand an end to their imprisonment for long periods without charge or trial, according to the head of the Prisoners Commission Issa Qaraqe.
He told Voice of Palestine radio on Thursday that the administrative detainees are planning to start next month gradual and organized steps that will lead to the hunger strike.
He predicted that the Israel Prison Services is going to take unprecedented steps from repression and isolation to undermine the strike and prevent its occurrence as was the case in the 2017 strike.
The administrative detainees have already decided not to appear before Israeli courts in their effort to end the administrative detention policy.
