PARIS, May 28, 2018 (WAFA) – France called on Israel on Monday not to demolish Khan al-Ahmar Bedouin community east of Jerusalem and not to expand and sustain colonialism.
A French Foreign Ministry spokesman said at a press conference that France is deeply concerned by the situation of the Palestinian residents of Khan al-Ahmar after demolition orders were issued against it.
He said the demolition is a threat to the community and affects an area of strategic importance for the two-state solution. It is also a violation of international humanitarian law and the fourth Geneva Convention.
The Israeli Supreme Court approved on Thursday the demolition and forcible transfer of the entire community of Khan al-Ahmar Abu al-Helu, a home to 35 Palestinian families with a total population of 180 people, for the expansion of more Israeli colonial settlements on lands belonging to the State of Palestine in the eastern Jerusalem governorate.
