Israeli police say Palestinian woman shot and injured in Jerusalem did not carry weapons

JERUSALEM, May 28, 2018 (WAFA) – A Palestinian woman who was shot and injured on Sunday night in occupied East Jerusalem did not carry any weapon, reports confirmed on Monday.

Israeli police said the woman, who was wearing the black Niqab that covers her body and face, did not heed calls to stop as she was walking on the sidewalk along a train track between Beit Hanina neighborhood and a nearby Israeli settlement and therefore she was fired at and shot in the leg.

Palestinians said they believe the woman was deaf, which explains why she did not stop when ordered to do so.

Police also said no weapons of any kind were found in the possession of the woman, who was not immediately identified.

Palestinians say Israeli policy allows police and security guards to shoot at Palestinians first and then ask questions.
