RAMALLAH, May 28, 2018 (WAFA) – Israeli soldiers raided Amari refugee camp in Ramallah on Monday morning, two days after a soldier who was injured at the camp during an army operation last week has died of his wounds, according to local sources.
Soldiers took over rooftops of the crowded refugee camp before embarking on a search and arrest campaign.
Residents threw rocks at the soldiers who fired back live and rubber-coated metal bullets.
Ahmad Beitawi, director of Palestine Medical Complex in Ramallah, told WAFA in a telephone interview that 13 Palestinians were brought to the medical complex with injuries to the limbs. All reported light.
Camp sources said at least nine people were detained before the army left the camp three hours later.
The soldier who died belonged to an elite Israeli army unit. He was hit on the head by a big concrete block thrown from the roof of a building he was standing nearby, which crushed his skull. He remained hospitalized until his death two days ago.
