RAMALLAH, May 21, 2018 (WAFA) – Israeli military authorities have issued administrative detention orders against 54 Palestinians since May 1, said a Palestine Prisoner’s Society (PPS) on Monday.
PPS attorney Mahmoud Halabi said that from among the 54 orders, 28 were issued against Palestinians detained for the first time or re-detained.
Administrative detention is the imprisonment of Palestinians without charge or trial at orders from a military commander and on the basis of secret evidence. The order normally goes for six-month periods, indefinitely renewable by Israeli military authorities.
