BERLIN, May 12, 2025 (WAFA) – The German government expressed deep concern over the developments in the Gaza Strip and emphasized its desire to see a ceasefire reached as soon as possible.
In a statement issued on Monday, the German government clarified that Chancellor Friedrich Merz has not issued an invitation to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to visit Germany.
According to the statement, Chancellor Merz is expected to engage in discussions with Israeli President Isaac Herzog to discuss the humanitarian situation in Gaza, in light of the alarming developments in the Strip.
The German government reaffirmed its adherence to international law, stating that any forced displacement from the Gaza Strip would constitute a violation of international law.
