CHICAGO, May 16, 2018 (WAFA) – Hundreds of Palestinian Americans and supporters Tuesday took to the streets in Chicago in protest of the opening of the US embassy in Jerusalem and a day after Israeli forces killed over 60 Palestinians during mass protests along Gaza border.
Protestors wearing the traditional Palestinian black and white checkered men head cover, the kufiyah, waved Palestinian flags and chanted slogans condemning the killing of 63 civilians by Israeli forces as thousands of Palestinians demonstrated near Gaza’s eastern border to mark the 70th anniversary of the Nakba and affirming the Palestinian refugees’ right to return.
Protestors reportedly held placards reading “Trump, Jerusalem is not yours to give” and chanted “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free!” and “Hey Netanyahu, what do you say? How many kids did you kill today?”
They called on the US government to stop all forms of support for Israel, especially financial support that is used by the Israeli authorities to build settlements in the occupied territories.
