Israeli army shoots protester in eye in Al Bireh protest

AL BIREH, May 15, 2018 (WAFA) – Israeli armed forces Tuesday shot a Palestinian protester with a rubber bullet directly in the eye during clashes that erupted at the northern entrance to the city of Al Bireh, Ramallah’s twin city.

According to the ministry of health, the unidentified man was transferred to the Palestine Medical Complex to receive medical treatment.

Dozens of protesters suffered from suffocation as Israeli forces fired tear gas and used drones to shoot more tear gas canisters at the protesters from above.

Hundreds of Palestinians marched to the northern entrance to the city in a protest to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Nakba and to stand in solidarity with the Gaza Strip, which witnessed a bloody Monday.

Until the moment, 62 Palestinians in Gaza were killed and around 2800 others suffered different injuries, including 120 injuries described as moderate to critical.

National factions called on Palestinians to join a protest Tuesday evening to commemorate the 70th Nakba anniversary.
