RAMALLAH, May 11, 2018 (WAFA) – Member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Hanan Ashrawi condemned on Friday the torching of the Dawabsheh family home in Duma, southeast of Nablus, by Israeli settlers earlier this day.

“This horrendous atrocity committed by illegal and extremist Jewish settlers is not an isolated incident.  Under the protection of Israeli forces, settlers persistently terrorize and attack innocent Palestinian civilians,” Ashrawi said in a press statement.

She continued, “The Israeli government and its army have done little to prevent further acts of settler violence and destruction or to hold the settlers to account. Israel is more committed to placating its settler population than to bringing its criminals to justice.”

Ashrawi urged “all members of the international community to translate their condemnations of Israel‘s flagrant violations into serious and concrete actions that would include punitive measures against Israel and protection for the Palestinian people.”
