RAMALLAH, May 11, 2018 (WAFA) – The government Friday condemned the arson attack carried out by suspected Israeli settlers in Duma town, southeast of Nablus city.
Government spokesman Yousef al-Mahmoud condemned in a press statement the torching of the home of Yasser Ahmad Dawabsha as a “crime to be added to the long and growing record of horrendous crimes that the Israeli government is responsible for.”
“The world’s conspicuous silence coupled with US President Donald Trump’s support to the Israeli occupation emboldens the Israeli government to persist in its aggression against the Palestinian people and their land, property and holy sites,” he added.
Al-Mahmoud called on the international community to “break their silence regarding the crimes perpetrated by the Israeli occupation authorities and take action towards the implementation of UN resolutions to maintain international peace and security and prevent aggression and disorder in the world.”
Suspected settlers Thursday night torched the home of Yasser, located on the outskirts of Duma, before they fled the scene, causing extensive material damages.
Settlers were suspected for the fresh arson attack that took place almost three years after three members of the Dawabsha family were killed in a July 2015 attack.
On July 31, 2015, suspected settlers set fire to a family house in Duma, burning Ali Dawabsha, an infant, alive. Ali’s parents, Riham, 28, and Sa‘ed succumbed to their wounds weeks later. The couple’s seven-year-old son Ahmad is the only remaining survivor of the attack.
