Abbas meets with Swedish State Secretary ahead of National Council session

 

RAMALLAH, April 30, 2018 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas Monday met with Sweden’s State Secretary for Foreign Affairs Annika Söder ahead of the 23rd session of the Palestinian National Council (PNC) and briefed her on the latest developments related to the Palestinian cause.

The president received the state secretary at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah, where he praised her participation in the opening of the PNC session, which Abbas stressed affirms the depth of friendly relations  between both countries.

The president briefed the visiting Swedish official on the latest developments in the political process and in the Palestinian arena and the importance of convening the national council in light of the delicate circumstances facing the Palestinian cause.

Abbas praised Sweden’s principled positions in support of the Palestinian people and their just cause in all international forums, particularly Sweden’s recognition of the state of Palestine, stressing the importance of Sweden’s participation in the PNC session scheduled to be held later today.
