Israeli forces detain 20 Palestinians in West Bank raids

 

RAMALLAH, April 30, 2018 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Monday detained a total of 20 Palestinians, including four former prisoners, in multiple overnight raids across the West Bank, said the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS).

Israeli forces conducted several raids into several towns and villages across Ramallah and al-Bireh district, detaining five Palestinians, including a father and his son.

Meanwhile, forces raided Beita town, south of Nablus city, detaining three Palestinians, including two former prisoners, after breaking into and searching their family homes.

Another Palestinian was detained in a subsequent raid into Beit Dajan village, east of Nablus city.

PPS added that another was detained from the northern West Bank district of Nablus.

Elsewhere in the northern West Bank, forces raided Azzoun town, east of Qalailiya city, where they detained two Palestinians, a former prisoner and his brother, after breaking into and ransacking their home.

In Jenin district, Israeli troops briefly detained a Palestinian during a predawn raids that triggered clashes in Jaba‘ town, south of the city.

Residents said that soldiers opened fire at local youths who protested the raid and attempted to block their passage, causing several protestors to suffer tear gas inhalation and injuring a 16-year-old teen with a live round before briefly detaining him.

During the raid, soldiers seized two Palestinian-owned bulldozers.

In the meantime, forces detained three Palestinians; one from al-Doha town, west of Bethlehem, one from Duheisa refugee camp, south of Bethlehem, and a third from al-Khader town, south of the city.

To the south of Bethlehem, forces detained three Palestinians after ransacking their homes in Deir Samet town and Kharsa village, west of Hebron.

PPS added that two Palestinians, including a former prisoner, were detained from Hebron district.
