HEBRON, April 3, 2018 (WAFA) – Israeli authorities Tuesday issued an order to confiscate a Palestinian-owned land in the town of Beit Ummar, to the north of the city of Hebron, the occupied West Bank, according to local sources.
Mohammad Awad, a local activist, told WAFA that the Israeli Civil Administration handed over an order to the municipality of Beit Ummar that states that Israel will confiscate a half-dunum plot of land next to the military tower on the entrance of the town.
Israeli forces claimed they’re confiscating the land, which belongs to Ahmad and Mahmoud Abu Ayyash, for security reasons.
According to Awad, Abu Ayyash filed an objection against the order, which Israel claimed was due to its need for the land to build an electricity grid for the military tower. The land owners, however, refuted the claim saying the order was signed the commander of the central region.
The Israeli military seized three years ago 200 meters of land around the tower for its expansion.
