RAMALLAH, March 22, 2018 (WAFA) – The Ministry of Information Thursday considered the call made by Special UN Special Rapporteur Michael Lynk that freedom of the media and the rights of journalists must be respected and that Israel should stop targeting Palestinian journalists, a step in the right direction.
The ministry in a statement said the call made by the United Nations Special Rapporteur is a step in the right direction to protect the truth-guards and hold Israel accountable for its violations against them.
The ministry affirmed that the call which was made during the 37th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva this week with the participation of Ambassador of Palestine to the United Nations Ibrahim Khreisha and representatives of countries and media from across the world must be built upon.
The ministry further stressed the need to implement the unanimously adopted UN Security Council Resolution 2222 on the protection of Journalists.
