RAMALLAH, March 22, 2018 (WAFA) - The amount of rainfall in 2017 was way less than the annual mean average, a joint press release by Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) and the Palestinian Meteorological Directorate (PMD) said on the occasion of World Meteorological Day, whose theme is "Weather Ready, Climate Smart”, which coincides on March 23.
Rainfall was 356 mm in Hebron station and 46 mm in Jericho Station. The mean average rainfall in Hebron station was 596 mm and 166 mm in Jericho, they said, way higher than the 2017 rainfall average.
Distribution of rainfall level was concentrated in most of the governorates in January and February, 2017.
Temperatures in Palestine in 2017 were higher than the mean average by 2.6 degrees Celsius in Nablus station in the north of the West Bank, whereas the maximum temperatures decreased by 0.3°C from the mean average in Jenin station.
Minimum temperatures in 2017 were also higher than the mean average by around 3.9°C in Jericho station and 0.8°C in Ramallah station.
