Abu Rudeineh: Our people shall overcome despite plots

RAMALLAH, March 21, 2018 (WAFA) – Nabil Abu Rudeineh, spokesman for President Mahmoud Abbas, said on Wednesday on the day marking the 50th anniversary for the Palestinian resistance movement’s victory over the  Israeli army in the Battle of al-Karameh (dignity) that the Palestinian people will overcome despite all the pressures and the suspicious attempts by some parties to liquidate the Palestinian cause.

He said in a statement that 50 years since the Battle of al-Karameh, “its message and objectives remain and continue, namely the end of the (Israeli) occupation and the establishment of our independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.”

“Despite the increasing pressure, the tension caused by the recent US decisions on Jerusalem, which are in violation of the principles of international law, and the Israeli measures that obstruct all efforts to make peace, our people remain steadfast and preserver of the national rights,” said Abu Rudeineh.

"Any step that violates Palestinian rights will be futile and will not give legitimacy to anyone, and any hesitant, suspicious and collusive positions will increase our resolve to create a national front to bring down any shameful project," he added.

Abu Rudeineh said the Palestinian National Council will convene soon to emphasize the national goals of preserving the national constants, steadfastness, adherence to the land, defending the holy places and creating a better future for all the free in the world.

He warned those “who may deal with the dubious plots that aim to sabotage the national front and weaken the resolve of the Palestinian people and their historic leadership from continuing to mess with the future of the Palestinian people,” stressing that “these attempts are delusional because what will prevail is only the national project, expressed in the battle of dignity (al-Karameh) and independence, and Jerusalem with its holy places, which are the permanent title of the Palestinian national struggle.”
