MOSCOW, February 19, 2018 (WAFA) - Mikhail Bogdanov, Special Envoy of the Russian President for the Middle East and Deputy Foreign Minister, said that the Middle East [political] settlement based on the two-state solution is under a real threat, noting that the point of no return is very close.
Addressing the Valdai International Discussion Club, Bogdanov said that although the two-state formula is still on the agenda, the prospects for a just settlement based on an internationally- recognized legal bases is fading away.
Regarding the proposed U.S. peace plan aimed at resolving the decades-long Palestinian-Israeli conflict, dubbed ‘the deal of a century‘, Bogdanov said the details of the deal have not been revealed yet, which he stressed is alarming.
He said that Washington does not allow the Quartet to work at full capacity, adding that it [US] also creates a state of uncertainty.
“In this case, there is only one option; a one state, but it would not work for Palestinians or Israelis.”
