RAMALLAH, January 13, 2018 (WAFA) – The protests that raged on Friday in the West Bank and Israeli army crackdown against them that left scores of injuries were highlighted on the front page of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies on Saturday.
The headline in al-Quds read: “200 injured in the sixth Friday of rage protests; occupation destroys land near (the illegal settlement outpost) Hayat Gilad.”
Al-Ayyam headline said: “Hundreds injured in the sixth Friday of rage in support of Jerusalem and in condemnation of (US President Donald) Trump’s declaration.”
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said: “Scores injured in the West Bank and Gaza Strip and a UN call for investigating occupation use of lethal force.”
The papers also printed pictures of the protests and confrontations in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, and in Jordan as well as reports on Israeli settlement activities and policies in the occupied territories.
The meeting of Fatah Central Committee in Ramallah was also highlighted on the front page of the dailies, which brought forward statements calling for establishing an international mechanism to solve the Palestinian issue.
Al-Ayyam said the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) is going to also meet in Ramallah on Saturday to approve recommendations to its Central Council meeting planned for Sunday in Ramallah.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said Palestine has joined the Convention on the Physical Protection of Nuclear Material and Nuclear Facilities.
It said President Mahmoud Abbas is going to attend a meeting on Jerusalem that will be held at Al-Azhar in Cairo on January 17.
Al-Quds said Washington and several European countries have denounced Israel’s plans to build over 1000 settlement units in the occupied West Bank and said the European Union has also condemned Israel’s detention of Palestinian minors.
