GAZA, December 14, 2017 (WAFA) – Israel said on Thursday that it has decided to shut down Erez (Beit Hanoun) crossing for people and Kerem Shalom (Karem Abu Salem) crossing for goods, which come as a collective punishment following days of rocket attacks from Gaza into southern Israel.
Israeli warplanes had earlier attacked posts in the Gaza Strip causing damage but no injuries, according to reports from Gaza.
Armed groups in Gaza fired over the past few days rockets into Israel without causing any damage or injuries.
However, after every attack, Israel strikes posts in Gaza. Last week, two Palestinians were killed in an Israeli strike.
Israeli military officials warned Gazans of dire consequences if the rockets, fired most likely by extremist groups in response to last week’s US recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, would continue to fall on Israel.
Israel waged three devastating wars against Gaza in the past decade, killing thousands of people, most of the civilians and destroying thousands of homes and infrastructure.
