King of Jordan affirms support for Palestinian people

RAMALLAH, August 7, 2017 (WAFA) – Presidential spokesperson Nabil Abu Rudeineh Monday said King of Jordan, Abdullah II, affirmed his country‘s full support to the Palestinian people and their leadership.

King Abdullah arrived in Ramallah for an official visit, where he held a closed meeting with Abbas followed by an expanded meeting between the Palestinian and accompanying Jordanian delegations.

Abu Rudeineh said this visit  is a continuation of the coordination and consultation between Abbas and king Abdullah to face the challenges concerning issues of mutual interest on the basis of the joint Arab action embodied in the last Arab Summit held at the Dead Sea.

Abu Rudeineh said Abbas praised the efforts exerted by King Abdullah to serve the Palestinian cause; through raising and defending it in all international forums.

Riyad al-Malki, Foreign Affairs Minister said this visit comes  at a very important time  to conduct a joint assessment on the issue of Israel’s attacks against al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, and its attempts to change the status quo.

He said both sides agreed to form a joint crisis cell to evaluate the previous phase, draw lessons and evaluate any future challenges regarding the situation in al-Aqsa Mosque.

Al-Malki said the Palestinian leadership is expecting possible upcoming actions by Israel and its Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, to which they plan to be ready to face.
