RAMALLAH, March 11, 2017 (WAFA) – Two people were killed and 149 injured in 221 traffic accidents in the West Bank last week, Palestinian police said on Saturday.
It said among the injured, five were said to be critical, 15 moderate and 129 light.
The report said police inspected 5163 vehicles last week and ordered 136 off the road because they were not fit for safe driving.
In addition, police issued 3085 traffic tickets to drivers and impounded 476 cars to check if the owners had the proper papers for them and destroyed 597 vehicles considered “illegal.”
Police in the West Bank recently went after “illegal” vehicles after drivers were responsible for a number of accidents that left one police officer dead and many others injured.
