GAZA, March 8, 2017 (WAFA) – Egyptian authorities opened for the third day Rafah border crossing, on Egypt border with the besieged Gaza Strip, to allow entry and exit of humanitarian cases.
WAFA correspondent said Egypt’s border authorities opened the major gate of the Rafah border crossing to allow students, patients and holders of Egyptian and international residencies to leave the besieged coastal enclave.
This came a day after 728 passengers were able to leave Gaza, while 1022 others were allowed entry there through Rafah border crossing.
Trucks loaded with cement, construction iron and other aid items were also allowed entry into the besieged coastal enclave.
The Rafah border crossing is the only gate for entry and exit of the Palestinian people of the Gaza Strip. It was shut down by Egypt in 2006 and has since been opened for only certain periods (mostly three-day periods) at times.
