Israeli army cracks down on protest against killing of activist in Ramallah

RAMALLAH, March 7, 2017 (WAFA) – The Israeli army cracked down Tuesday on a protest by Birzeit University students outside Ofer military camp and prison, just outside Ramallah, injuring two and arresting four, including the injured, according to WAFA correspondent.

Soldiers at the camp fired tear gas canisters and rubber-coated steel bullets at the students who gathered there to protest the early Monday morning Israeli army killing of activist Basel al-Araj, 31, in Ramallah.

Students hurled stones at the soldiers, who responded firing back tear gas and rubber bullets injuring two, who were arrested along with two other protesters.

The Israeli forces also reportedly assaulted journalists who were covering the clashes and prevented them from reporting on the protest..
