Abbas was quoted in the three dailies: “It is impractical for the sake of peace and justice to discuss temporary solutions or merge the question of Palestine within the framework of regional affairs.”
He was also reported in al-Ayyam as reiterating his demand for an international system to be established for the protection of the Palestinian people.
Abbas called on states that believe in the two-state solution to recognize the state of Palestine and warning parties not to take steps that contribute to strengthening Israeli occupation.
Al-Quds said four Palestinians were injured after Israeli warplanes launched a series of airstrikes on several locations across the Gaza Strip. A Palestinian girl was shot and injured by Israeli forces at Qalandia military checkpoint, north of Jerusalem.
Al-Ayyam said scores of Palestinians suffocated from tear gas inhalation fired at them by Israeli forces during clashes in Jabaa town, south of Jenin, in the northern West Bank.
Al-Quds reported Israeli forces shot and injured a Palestinian boy ]by a rubber-coated steel bullet[ during a raid that sparked clashes in Shufat refugee camp in East Jerusalem.
It added contacts are underway in preparation for summit involving Abbas and US President Donald Trump.
Al-Quds said Fatah Central Committee member Azzam al-Ahmad announced that a political and security agreement has been reached in order to radically address the situation in the Palestinian refugee camp of Ein al-Hilweh in Lebanon.
The dailies said Egypt refused entry of Secretary-General of Fatah Central Committee Jibril Rajoub at Cairo airport.
Al-Ayyam reported that the United Nations Agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) has suspended a senior UNRWA staff following an Israeli campaign accusing him of having being elected to a political position in the besieged Gaza Strip.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said Abbas called on UN Secretary-General António Guterres to establish an international protection system for the Palestinian people and develop a binding mechanism and a specified timeframe to end Israeli occupation.
