RAMALLAH, February 22, 2017 (WAFA) – The Foreign Ministry warned on Wednesday that Israeli measures in the occupied territories would unilaterally determine the outcome of final status issues.
It said in a statement in reaction to Israeli seizure of 250 dunums of land from Sur Baher, an East Jerusalem neighborhood, to build a 2000-housing unit settlement, as well as other similar measures in the West Bank “would determine the outcome of final status issues from one side.”
The ministry called on the international community and the United Nations to quickly act to enforce international resolutions, such as Security Council resolution 2334 that called for immediate halt to settlement activities.
It said it is not enough to just condemn these acts but there should be “real sanctions” imposed on Israel, as an occupying power, to force it to stop its contempt of international law and resolutions.
