Fatah: Israeli practices destabilize the region and destroy the peace process

RAMALLAH, February 16, 2017 (WAFA) - Fatah Central Committee warned on Thursday that Israeli practices will destabilize the region and destroy the peace process.

A statement issued following a meeting for the Central Committee chaired by President Mahmoud Abbas on Wednesday evening and held at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah said the committee discussed political and internal issues, particularly “the critical situation caused by Israeli policies and practices against our Palestinian people and the occupied Palestinian territory, mainly in Jerusalem.”

It said that “these Israeli practices threatened the situation in the region in general and undermine the political process as a whole.”

President Abbas briefed the committee on his recent visits and talks in Saudi Arabia and Jordan, where the monarchs in both countries reiterated their full support for the Palestinian people and cause in all fields.

The President also briefed the committee on his visit to Addis Ababa where he attended the African Unity summit, as well as his visits to Pakistan, Bangladesh, France and Belgium.

The Central Committee asserted that “the Israeli occupation practices on our occupied Palestinian land and its attempt to legalize the so-called laws issued by the Israeli Knesset are rejected in total.”

It said the Palestinian people and leadership “will never bow to such acts and Israeli dictations regardless of the price.”

It said it considers these practices and laws a “blatant defiance of international legitimacy, international law and the United Nations and its latest resolution 2334.”

It called on the international community “to stand firm against these measures, practices and policies because of their threat to security and stability in the region and the world.”

Domestically, the Central Committee stressed the importance of holding municipal elections and the readiness of Fatah movement to participate in these elections, and called on all factions to engage in these elections in all parts of the country.

The Central Committee also distributed the positions on its members in accordance with its internal regulations.
