Statistics bureau: Construction cost index up in November

RAMALLAH, December 26, 2016 (WAFA) - Construction cost index for residential buildings increased by 0.35 per cent in the West Bank during November compared with October, the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) said on Monday.

The increase was due to rise in prices of raw materials by 0.57 per cent and rental of equipment by 0.30 per cent. At the same time, labor wages remained stable during November compared with the previous month.

Construction cost index for non-residential buildings also increased by 0.38 per cent in the West Bank during November compared with October, said the PCBS.

The increase was due to rise in prices of raw materials by 0.60 per cent and rental of equipment by 0.24 per cent. At the same time, labor wages remained stable during November compared with the previous month.

Road cost index also increased by 1.01 per cent in November due to increase in operating costs of equipment and maintenance by 2.12 per cent, prices of raw materials by 1.27 per cent, and rental of equipment by 1.02 per cent.

Water networks cost index increased as well by 0.76 per cent, water reservoirs cost index increased by 1.10 per cent, and sewage networks cost index by 0.15 per cent in November when compared to October, said the PCBS.
