BETHLEHEM, August 9, 2016 (WAFA) – Israeli forces early Tuesday shot and injured seven Palestinians with live ammunition and detained another during a raid into Duheisha refugee camp, south of Bethlehem, said security sources.
Israeli forces raided Duheisha refugee camp, triggering clashes with Palestinian local youths who protested the raid and attempted to block their passage.
Forces reportedly indiscriminately opened fire at local youths, hitting and injuring seven of them with live rounds in their extremities.
The injured were evacuated to the Bethlehem Arab Society for Rehabilitation for treatment, where medics described their injuries as stable.
During the raid, Israeli troops re-detained Nidal Abu Aker, 48, after storming and ransacking his family house.
Abu Aker, a well-known Palestinian rights activist and journalist, was released in December 2015 after being held for 18 months under administrative detention.
He had served a total of 14 non-consecutive years in Israeli prisons, mostly under administrative detention.
Together with other Palestinian detainees, Abu Aker had started a hunger strike in August 2015 in protest of his detention without a trial or charge.
