Update: Israeli Forces Detain Nine Palestinians, Summon Eight in West Bank Raids

BETHLEHEM, July 21, 2016 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Thursday detained nine Palestinians, including a former detainee, and summoned eight others mostly during overnight raids across the West Bank, said security sources and Palestine Prisoner’s Society.

Three Palestinians were detained from Bethlehem, two others from Jerusalem, another from Ramallah, another from Hebron, another from Jenin and another from Tulkarem. On the other hand, eight Palestinians were summoned from Bethlehem and four others from Hebron.

In Bethlehem district, forces raided Hindaza village, south of Bethlehem city, detaining a Palestinian identified as Mahmoud Wardeyan, 40.

During the raid, forces handed Wardeyan’s father, Hassan, and two brothers, Usaid and Islam, notices ordering them to appear before intelligence in the Gush Etzion detention and interrogation center.

They also handed Haroun Qassem, 30, a notice, ordering him to turn himself to intelligence.

Elsewhere in Bethlehem district, forces detained Shadi Badawna, 27, after storming and ransacking his family house in Aida refugee camp.

Another Palestinian identified as Murad Jaddal, 35, was detained from Bethlehem district.

Meanwhile, forces detained Khaled Abul-Hawa, 21, and Suleiman Abu-Sbitan from Jerusalem district, north of Bethlehem.

In Hebron district, Israeli troops stormed several houses and detained Ahmad Masalma, 22, from Beit Awwa town, west of Hebron, in the southern West Bank.

They also raided the Hebron town of Dura, storming and thoroughly searching two houses belonging to Ayed Faqih, and his son, Yousef, who is placed in Israeli detention.

During the overnight raid, troops handed Akram Faqih, together with his brothers, Muhammad and Feras, as well as Hani Rujoub notices ordering them to appear before intelligence.

Elsewhere in Hebron district, large troops raided Yatta town, ransacking and wreaking havoc into several houses, including those belonging to Majdi Shariqi, his brother, Ahmad, and Eid al-Jundi.

In the northern West Bank, troops handcuffed and detained a Palestinian after ordering him to get off his vehicle, which was seized, at Azzun Atma village, south of Qalqiliya.

The detainee was identified as Adel Rabay‘a from the Jenin village of Meithalun.

Also in the northern West Bank, large troops raided Tulkarem city, detaining Saleh Barqawi, 34, after storming and ransacking his apartment and breaking the door lock.

Barqawi is a former detainee. He had been released in 2009 after spending seven years in Israeli detention.

In the meantime, Muhammad al-Uri, 27, was handcuffed and detained during an overnight raid into the central West Bank district of Ramallah.
