RAMALLAH, July 21, 2016 (WAFA) – Torching a Palestinian house by suspected Israeli Jewish arsonists in the Nablus village of Duma in the northern West Bank hit the front page headlines in Palestinian daily newspapers.
Al-Quds said a Palestinian family survived an arson attack against their house in Duma village and that ]Israeli[ settlers are suspected of perpetrating the attack.
Al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida said settlers torched a house belonging to the Dawabsha family in a fresh arson attack.
Al-Ayyam reported Palestinian Cabinet Spokesperson Yousef al-Mahmoud slamming the arson attack as a “cowardly and brutal act”.
Al-Ayyam highlighted Israel’s plans to build a new section of the “segregation” wall in the southern West Bank district of Hebron. It reported Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu describing the construction of the wall in Hebron district as “vital”.
Al-Ayyam and al-Quds also reported Israel advanced plans to build a wall along its borders with Jordan. Both dailies also said Israel approved plans to build apartments, commercial facilities and hotels along Jerusalem’s light rail.
Furthermore, al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida said Israeli parliament, the Knesset, passed into a law the “suspension bill” that would allow Knesset members to vote to oust Arab members of Knesset.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida slammed the law as “racist,” while al-Ayyam reported a representative of the Joint List as stating the bill was intended to undermine Palestinian political activism and ]silence Palestinian opposition and criticism of Israel[.
Moreover, the three dailies said Israel’s Minister for Justice Ayelet Shakid approved new “racist” measures against Palestinian workers.
Al-Ayyam said Israeli navy attacked Palestinian Gaza fishermen, detaining four fishermen from the same family.
Al-Quds reported Donald Trump’s senior advisor David Friedman as stating that if Palestinians refuse to return to talks, we would consider that Israel “annexes” West Bank areas to settlements.
It is worth noting in this regard that Friedman would serve as co-chair of Israel Advisory Committee, a new committee formed by Trump and that, according to Haaretz, “will analyze U.S. policy on Israel and offer recommendations on alternative solutions to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.”
The It is also worth noting that Freidman was quoted in the Jerusalem Post as stating: “If there is no agreement with the Palestinians, Israel has to move forward and maybe there is another path and a better path that is not a two-state solution and obviously under those circumstances that [annexation D.Z.] is certainly an option.” he said.
“I don’t know when or if that would be implemented but it’s certainly not a third rail in terms of options. It is certainly a legitimate possibility,” he reportedly added.
Highlighting President Mahmoud Abbas’ visit to Sudan, al-Hayat al-Jadida said Abbs laid the cornerstone for the Palestinian embassy in Khartoum.
Finally, al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida highlighted a video footage that went viral on social media depicting so-called “rebel fighters” from the Nureddin Zinki group beheading a Palestinian boy after capturing him north of Syria’s Aleppo city.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida reported Director of the PLO Political Bureau in Damascus, Ambassador Anwar Abdul-Hadi as decrying the beheading.
