Seven Palestinians Shot, Injured during Nablus Clashes

NABLUS, October 6, 2015 (WAFA) – At least seven Palestinians, including two minors, were shot and injured, and a number of other locals suffocated as clashes renewed overnight between Israeli forces and Palestinians across Nablus district, reported security and municipal sources.

Heavily-armed Israeli forces raided Nablus city, where they broke into and ransacked several houses and stores belonging to Palestinian locals allegedly involved in the killing of a settler couple in a drive-by shooting near the Nablus village of Beit Furik late Thursday.

An unidentified Palestinian minor was reportedly injured with rubber-coated steel bullet as Israeli forces opened fire on Palestinian locals during renewed clashes in the vicinity of the Old City of Nablus and Balata Refugee Camp.

Four Palestinians were reportedly detained during the predawn raid.

Furthermore, forces raided Huwwara town, south of the city, where they broke into several houses, including a house belonging to Shaher Damidi.

Forces, according to local Fatah Spokesperson ‘Awad Najm, attempted to detain Shaher’s son, Ahmad, who managed to escape. The father was detained until the son turns himself in.

This came hours after similar clashes broke out between Israeli forces and Palestinians in the Nablus villages of al-Luban Ash-Sharqiya and Beit Furik.

Local anti-settlement activist Ghassan Daghlas explained that several Palestinians, including a toddler, suffocated after Israeli forces fired tear gas canisters at them.

Furthermore, similar clashes erupted at the western entrance of Beit Furik village, east of the city, where Israeli forces fired live ammunition using sound suppressed guns.

Head of Beit Furik Local Council ‘Aref Hanani reported that five local youths were shot and injured with live ammunition. Three of them were rushed into a local clinic, whereas the other two were taken to a Nablus hospital.

The injured were identified as Nizar Nasasra, ‘Imad ‘Awad, Tha’er Khatatba, Ja‘far Abu Ghalma and Nour ‘Abdul-Rahman.

Furthermore, clashes also broke out between Palestinians and Israeli forces at Huwwara military checkpoint, south of the city.

Forces opened fire on Palestinians, shooting and injuring a minor in the foot.

Bashar Mabarka, 17, a Palestinian from Balata refugee camp, was struckwith a bullet in his foot. He was rushed into Rafidia hospital for medical treatment.
