HEBRON, October 5, 2015 (WAFA)
– Several suffocation cases by teargas inhalation were reported as
confrontations between Palestinians and the Israeli army erupted again in the
city of Hebron, according to WAFA correspondent.
Israeli soldiers used teargas
and toxic gas canisters and stun grenades to disperse the protesters, causing
multiple cases of suffocation.
Meanwhile, a reporter, Taha
Abu-Hussein, was injured with a rubber-coated steel bullet in his head shot at
him by Israeli soldiers during the same confrontations. He was transferred to
Hebron public hospital for medical treatment, where his case was described as
moderate.
While Israeli media refers to
the shooting of two Jewish settlers on Thursday in the West Bank by unidentified
Palestinians, as the reason behind the soaring violence, Palestinians have been
struggling with settlers’ violence for a long time.
On July 31, 18-year-old Ali
Dawabsheh was burned alive in an arson attack at his family’s home in the
village of Duma southeast of Nablus. Jewish settlers from a nearby settlement
set the house on fire while the family was sleeping. While the mother, Reham
and father Saad died of severe burns weeks later.
Meanwhile in Jerusalem,
Palestinians have been facing tightened restrictions on their entry to both the
Old City and Al-Aqsa Mosque Compound. Israeli police is increasingly
facilitating Jewish settlers’ entry to the holy site while banning a growing
number of Palestinian worshipers.
For the fourth day in a row,
clashes have been erupting in multiple areas across the West Bank and Jerusalem.
In two weeks only, Israel has shot dead six young Palestinians in separate
incidents.
On Monday, Israeli soldiers shot
dead 13-year-old Abdul-Rahman Shadi Mustafa during confrontations with youths
in the Aida refugee camp north of Bethlehem, less than 24 hours after another
Palestinian youth was killed by the Israeli army in Tulkarm, according to
security sources.
In the past two weeks alone,
six Palestinian youths were killed by the Israeli army, including 21-year-old
Hadeel Hashlamon from Hebron, 21-year-old Diya’ Talahmeh from Hebron,
19-year-old Fadi Aloun from Jerusalem, 19-year-old Muhanad Halabi from Ramallah
and 18-year-old Huthayfa Salman from Tulkarm.
