JERUSALEM,
October 5, 2015 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Monday detained eight Palestinians,
including two minors, and assaulted another during clashes and predawn raids
into several West Bank districts, said security sources.
Israeli
police detained a Palestinian minor during violent clashes that broke out in
Jerusalem’s neighborhood of Silwan, south of Al-Aqsa Mosque Compound.
Clashes
reported by WAFA correspondent, broke out in the Silwan locality of al-Mahdada,
where Israeli police confronted Palestinian youths, firing concussion grenades,
tear gas canisters and rubber-coated steel bullets at them.
The
detainee was identified as Ahmad Naser, 17, from the Jerusalem’s neighborhood of
Ras al-‘Amud.
Clashes
have reportedly also broken out between Israeli police and Palestinians in the
vicinity of the Israeli checkpoint near the entrance of Shu’fat refugee camp
since early morning.
Furthermore,
Israeli police detained several hours later two Palestinians, a woman and a
minor, from the vicinity of Bab al-Asbat (Lion’s Gate), where Palestinians
barricaded themselves after being barred entry into the Old City.
The
detainees, identified as Samaher Farran, 38, and Mohammad al-Karaki, 15, coming
from Jafa and Jerusalem respectively, were taken to al-Qashala interrogation
and detention center.
Meanwhile
in Nablus district, Israeli forces detained two Palestinians and assaulted
another during a predawn raid into Yatama, a village to the south of the city.
Heavily
guarded troops raided the village, where they detained a local Palestinian
identified as Badi Snubar, 47, after breaking into and ransacking his house. During
the predawn raid, Snubar’s wife, Iman, 45, was physically assaulted by troops.
Israeli
forces also broke into and ransacked several other Palestinian houses during
predawn raids into the towns of Huwwara, Qabalan and Beit Furik as well as
Osarin village, south of the city.
Furthermore,
forces also detained a Palestinian after breaking and wrecking havoc into his
house in the city.
Director
of Nablus-based Palestinian Prisoners’ Club, Ra’ed ‘Amer, identified the
detainee as Yahya Mohammad, who was brutally assaulted by troops using clubs
and metal bars. The activist said sniffer dogs snapped off Mohammad’s clothes.
Forces,
according to ‘Amer, also raided the Nablus locality of ‘Iraq At-Tayeh, where
they detained a Palestinian identified as Zeid Younes.
During
the raid, forces smashed goods and seized an unidentified sum of cash belonging
to Younes.
In
the meantime in Qalqilya district, forces stationed at a checkpoint near Jit, a
village to the northeast of the city, a Palestinian identified as Qusai
Barghouth from the nearby village of Baqat al-Hatab.
In
the meantime in Bethlehem district, forces raided Hindaza village, south of the
city, where they detained a local Palestinian after breaking into and searching
his house. The detainee was identified as Wael Jalghif, 24.
Meanwhile
in Hebron, forces raided al-Arrub refugee camp, where they detained a student
after breaking into the Palestine Technical College.
Forces,
according to WAFA correspondent, cordoned the college off, closing its main
entrances, adjacent to Jerusalem-Hebron Street, and prevented students’ access
into and out of the college. Israeli soldiers then detained a student
identified as ‘Amr al-‘Allami, 20, who was moved to the Gush Etzion detention
and interrogation center.
Forces
also prevented local anti-settlement activist, Mohammad ‘Awad, from filming to
document the raid and briefly detained him for three hours.
