SANTIAGO,
August 10, 2014 (WAFA) – Thousands rallied on Sunday in the Chilean capital of
Santiago in support of the Palestinian people in Gaza, following 34 days of ongoing
Israeli aggression.
The
protesters waved Palestinian flags and banners calling for the boycott of
Israel and supporting Gaza and Palestine. Protesters carried banners reading ‘Gaza
resists,’ ‘Palestine exists,’ ‘shame on Israel,’ and that ‘they’re worse than
Nazis’, calling upon the Chilean President to sever the diplomatic relations
with Israel.
To
be noted, Chile recalled its ambassador from Israel last week in protest of the
Israeli aggression on the strip.
The
current offensive on Gaza triggered five Latin American countries - Ecuador,
Brazil, Peru, El Salvador and Chile - to recall their ambassadors from Tel
Aviv. Both Chile and Brazil also suspended trade talks with Israel. Venezuela
and Bolivia qualified Israel's offensive as genocide. Bolivian President Evo
Morales announced his country would from now on require visas for all Israeli
citizens wishing to visit Bolivia. He also declared Israel a 'terrorist
state,” reported al-Jazeera.
