PARIS, August 5, 2025, WAFA – The Spokesperson for the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs today condemned the visit made on Sunday by Israeli “National Security” Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir to Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, calling it a violation of the historical status quo of the holy sites in Jerusalem.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the spokesperson said that these systematic violations of the status quo at the mosque in Jerusalem undermine international efforts aimed at paving the way for the implementation of the two-state solution, which remains the only viable solution to meet the legitimate aspirations of both Israelis and Palestinians to live in peace and security.
France reiterated the need to preserve the historical status quo at the holy sites in Jerusalem and underscored the important role played by Jordan in this regard.
