Palestinian man injured in colonists’ attack in Khirbet al-Rakeez south of Hebron

HEBRON, August 22, 2026 (WAFA) — A Palestinian man was injured on Saturday after being assaulted by Israeli colonists in the village of Khirbet al-Rakeez, located in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron, said a local activist.

Osama Makhamreh, an anti-colonial settlement activist in southern Hebron, told WAFA that armed Israeli colonists, under the protection of Israeli occupation forces, severely assaulted Palestinian resident Saeed al-Amour in al-Rakeez village.

The attack left al-Amour with multiple injuries and bruises, prompting Palestine Red Crescent crews to transport him to Yatta Governmental Hospital for medical treatment.

Makhamreh further reported that Israeli occupation forces subsequently raided al-Amour’s home, searched the premises, vandalized its contents, and confiscated the family’s mobile phones.

The incident comes amid continued reports of violence and attacks against Palestinians across the occupied West Bank. According to the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission, Israeli forces and colonists carried out 2,256 attacks against Palestinians, their land, and property during July. The data shows that Israeli forces committed 1,458 of these attacks, while colonists were responsible for 798.

The commission said the attacks were recorded across several governorates, with Ramallah and al-Bireh registering the highest number at 260, followed by Nablus with 247, Jenin with 190, Bethlehem with 185, and Hebron with 170.

The commission described the figures as evidence of close coordination between military operations and colonists’ violence, stressing that the Israeli military’s protection and support of colonists has created an environment conducive to the escalation of attacks and their lasting impact on Palestinians and their property.
