BEIRUT, June 15, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation warplanes launched a series of airstrikes on the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital, Beirut, on Sunday.
Earlier in the day, the extremist Israeli Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir, and Minister of Finance, Bezalel Smotrich, called for attacks on Beirut’s southern suburbs.
Media sources reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened a meeting of the Political-Security Cabinet (the Cabinet), amid speculation that a halt to the ground incursion in southern Lebanon could be considered in light of regional political developments.
According to reports, Ben-Gvir wrote on the social media platform X: “Today I will demand that Beirut’s southern suburbs be shaken,” while Smotrich stated: “I call on Netanyahu to bring down more buildings in Beirut’s southern suburbs.”
